Privacy Policy
Effective May 14, 2026
Neutral Scroll is built around an unusual product principle: there is no business reason to know anything about you. The short version of this policy is that we do not collect, store, or share personal information about you, your device, or how you use the app. The longer version, in plain language, follows.
What we don't collect
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for — no email, no password, no profile.
- No analytics. We do not record sessions, taps, swipes, durations, or any in-app behavior.
- No advertising identifiers. No IDFA, no third-party advertising SDKs, no fingerprinting.
- No location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone, no camera.
- No crash reports or telemetry sent to us or to any third party.
What stays on your device
When you ask Neutral Scroll to shield apps, it uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls framework. The selection of apps you choose is stored exclusively in an App Group container on your device. It is never transmitted to us, and we cannot see it — Apple does not give app developers visibility into which specific apps a user has selected. Uninstalling Neutral Scroll removes this data with it.
Your onboarding state (a single flag indicating whether you have completed the first-launch flow) and your shield-enabled toggle are stored on your device in the same way. None of it leaves the phone.
What touches our servers
Neutral Scroll uses Expo's over-the-air update service
(expo-updates) to deliver small bug fixes between App
Store releases. On launch, the app makes a request to Expo's
content-delivery network to check whether a newer JavaScript bundle
is available for the version of the app you have installed. This
request includes the standard information any HTTPS request includes
— your IP address, the app version, and the update channel. We do
not associate this with any identity, and we do not maintain our own
access logs for this traffic. Expo's privacy policy is at
expo.dev/privacy.
The app makes no other network requests.
What Apple sees
The App Store is operated by Apple, and any download, purchase, or App Store interaction is governed by Apple's privacy practices, not ours. Apple may share aggregate, anonymized statistics with developers through App Store Connect; we read these only as aggregates and they are not tied to identifiable users.
Children
Neutral Scroll is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we do not collect or store personal information about you, there is no account to delete, no data to export, and no record of you on our side to correct. Uninstalling the app removes everything the app stored locally on your device.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material about how the app handles information, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Because there is no account and no email address on file, we cannot notify you directly — the canonical version of this policy lives at neutralscroll.com/privacy.html.
